Dev Diaries: Weapons, Damage Feedback & Zombie Death Polish
Updated: Sep 4
New weapons this week:
Bombs: Throwable splash damage + fire chance + knockback (crafts in stacks of 10).
Scrap Axe: Now has cone-hit detection to slice through groups in one swing.
Spear: Fast, long-range poke weapon.
Tier-3 Upgrades: Unlocked the Chakram, Kebober, and Flaming Kebober
Damage Feedback: Added a radial hit-direction indicator + low-health vignette. Much clearer than the old flat health bar alone, and it required teaching every damage source (zombie melee, charger slam, puddle zombie, etc.) to pass along where the hit came from.
Durability: Now lives on the actual inventory slot, so each item tracks its own life independently, survives being moved or swapped between slots, and only ticks down on a successful hit swinging and missing no longer costs durability. Zombie Death States: Added distinct hit reactions, knockback sprites, and persistent corpses (no more instant vanishing or floor-sinking woo!).
Bug Fixes
Fixed a nasty inconsistency where some zombies would just... not move until you hit them . Turned out to be a NavMesh placement issue if a zombie spawned slightly off the baked NavMesh.
Resolved gamepad UI soft-locks in the options and crafting menus.
